Lackluster

I am a fairly lackluster blog-updater-guy. If there is anyone out there reading this, I would love to hear about some topics of interest that you want to hear me discuss. This effort may be futile, so if you don't say anything then I'll just keep talking to myself :) WELL, I will leave you with a really good video. Sorry if you don't like bikes!

A Prayer

Father God,

Help me to live intentionally, particularly when it comes to what I read, watch, and listen to on a consistent basis. Guide me to allow into my soul only those words, sounds, and images that support who you want me to become. Reveal to me the role I must play in guarding the door of my heart. Keep me from becoming careless about the inputs of each day and the effect my environment has on my potential. Because I soak up my surroundings, show me if I have any current exposures that are not pleasing to you, and lead me to make changes so I can experience your presence in a deeper and fuller way.

Inspire me, hour by hour, to fill my mind with everything good. Remind me that everything counts, and that what I sow, I sooner or later will certainly reap.

In Jesus' name,

Amen

I wish I could say that I was eloquent enough with words to have come up with this prayer, but I did not. It comes from "The 4:8 Principle" written by Tommy Newberry. I hope to make this prayer one of many daily submissions to Jesus, and I hope I can make those changes to experience His presence in a deeper and fuller way.

Transformation

Today I kinda formulated somewhat of a strategy/something to chew on.

"Let the Lord transform your mind so you live for HIS glory."

WAY too often I find myself living for my glory and trying to force the world to revolve around me when everything was designed to revolve around God. Of course, it's human nature...this is where God comes in to save the day (and my mind).

My prayer is that He will infiltrate my every thought, which will influence my actions and ultimately refine my personal character.

Translation please

First off, I just discovered a great website called YouVersion. It's not just an online Bible reader, there are many forums and biblical discussions about different topics and scriptures. I love it so far!

My two bibles - English Standard Version (ESV) and New Living Translation (NLT). I usually use the NLT version as an "easy reader" just because the language is slightly more modern in comparison to the ESV. I do love the ESV though, there are some pretty powerful words this translation uses. The thing is, I have heard so many things about how translations such as NLT and "The Message" could possibly distort the actual meaning of the verses because the words are changed around so much. Anyway, just a random thought I had. What do you think about the different Bible translations?

Sorry this was probably one of the most boring blogs you have ever read. If anyone read it...

This is not a sob story

I was riding my bike down a grassy hill this evening in the dark. I saw the stump the instant before I SLAMMED into it and almost flipped over the handlebars but I wasn't going fast enough. Tire popped and I thought that was the only thing I messed up. I changed the tire and everything, then after further inspection of the bike in the light, I saw this:

and this:

It looks like a really slight bend in the fork at the crown, but I have heard that if the fork's bent at the crown then its pretty tough to bend back. I don't want to risk trying that, and the headset might be shot too. I will probably end up buying a new frame, which really stinks because I loved this frame and I literally just got it 2 months ago. Needless to say, I have definitely learned my lesson to not ride in the dark (especially in grass) without a light that helps me see better.

Welcoming any donations to the "Adam's New Bike Frame Fund".   :)

2 Days in a Row!
